“The Lord is with thee, thou mighty man of valour.” – Judges 6:12
These words were spoken by an angel of the Lord to Gideon while Gideon was beating out wheat in the wine press in order to save it from the Midianites. Israelites did evil in the sight of God and God gave them into the hands of Midianites for 7 years. Midianites came into the land of Israel to destroy it. God promised to give Gideon the strength he needs to overcome the opposition. In-spite of this clear promise for strength, Gideon made excuses saying that his family is least in Manasseh and he is the youngest in his father’s house.
Like Gideon, we are called to serve God in specific ways. Although God promises us the strength we need, we often make excuses. For the LORD sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart. God is not looking for highly skilled, qualified and talented people to serve Him rather God is looking for faithful people who keep their trust in the Lord to serve Him.
