Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers.
2 Corinthians – 6:14
Yoke – As most of us are aware of yoke is a device for joining together a pair of animals esp, oxen used in the farming. An unequally yoked pair of animals can never accomplish the task, even the believers.
Few qualities of a believer:
- His heart is filled with peace of God that passes all understanding and Joy everlasting.
- He loves to spend his time, talents in the presence of God.
- He claims God’s interference in everyday activities.
- Most important he has hope of Eternal Life.
Whereas the spiritual eyes of an Unbeliever is blindfolded still. No Hope at all.
That said, How can a believer and an unbeliever be unequally yoked ?
This verse is widely used in the terms of marriage. But it also can be applied to any kind of relationship. Is our relationship with unbelievers ( friends, colleagues, extended family & neighbors) drawing us away from the presence of God? Or Is our relationship drawing the unbeliever to Christ ?
May the Holy Spirit God help us to discern to maintain that slight demarcation and help us to live a Separated life at the same time a great witness.
