Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. John 8:36
Man considers self-willed life as freedom but the Bible teaches us that fleeing from self-rule and falling into the reign of God is true freedom. It is under the authority of Christ we can enjoy perfect liberty. That’s what Jesus means when He said, “If the Son shall make you free, you shall be free indeed!”. There is absolutely no question about it; God does not want us to be in bondage to anything, but to be free.
But many of the believers are not free because they have no room in their hearts for Jesus’ message(v37) i.e. Word of God. Yes, sin enslaves us when we do not walk according to the precepts of God. Jesus says in v31-32, that by only continuing in the Word of God, we can be His disciples indeed: and we will know the truth, and the truth shall make us free! The truth of the Son of God shall not only make you free, if you let Him, He shall keep you free. May this day of Independence truly make us free from the bondage of sin.
