All the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever. Gen 13:15
Genesis 12 gives us the account of God calling Abram and his obedience to the call. But in Gen 12:10, during the famine we don’t see Abram asking the Lord or the Lord telling Abram to go down to Egypt. They go on their own and get into trouble. Once back, Lot is given an option to choose and he makes a worldly or a choice according to his flesh be seeing the land before him (same as what Eve did in the garden of Eden – see Gen 3:6) not learning from the mistake they committed earlier.
Chapter 13, Verse 14 explicitly cites that Lord said to Abram “after that Lot was separated from him” clearly shows that God gives a promise only if & when we are separated from the world.
If we take today’s verse in the spiritual realm. God says “All the land which thou seest . . .”. The question is “What land are we seeing today?”. Are we seeing America? Or are we seeing the promised land? The land that is fairer than day!!!! God says “ to thee and to thy seed will i give it”. If we desire America, he might give us and our children America. But, is that enough or is that what we are looking for?
As we begin this day, let us ask God to “choose for us” and “help us to see the land” that he is preparing for us so that we and our children can inherit it someday.
