Zion Calendar Verse – Sep 6,2018
“The God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.”
–1 Peter 5:10
In the 1Peter 5 chapter apostle Peter exhorts
1. To the elders of the churches to be faithful to the flocks committed to their charge, 1Peter 5:1-4.
2. To the younger members of the church to evince all proper submission to those who were older; to occupy the station in which they were placed with a becoming spirit, casting all their care on God, 1Peter 5:5-7.
3. To be sober and vigilant, in view of the dangers which beset them, and the arts and power of their great adversary, the devil, and especially to bear with patience the trials to which they were subjected, in common with their Christian brethren elsewhere, 1Peter 5:8-11.
4. Salutations, 1Peter 5:12-14.
Verse 1 Peter 5:10
The hope of all believers is the settled, unchanging character of a loving, gracious, merciful God. Although we live in a fallen world of evil and rebellion, when we trust Him nothing can separate us from Him (cf. Rom 8:31-39).
Peter says we will all suffer to some extent. Peter is trying to encourage the church by telling us that our suffering is only for “a little while” which gives us hope because Christ “has called [us] to his eternal glory” so that one day this will all be behind us.
The tendency of affliction is to make us perfect and closer to the God.Make you firm in all and will be strengthened in spiritual life.It will cause all to rest so evenly and firmly upon the best and surest foundation of spiritual life.
Prayer
Gracious Father, thank you for this blessed day that you have provided to me. I bless and worship You. You are the God of holiness, mercy, and love. Many souls shall be saved and filled with the Holy Ghost; the sick shall be healed;and in the name of Jesus, we shall cast out all kinds of devils. We will walk in holiness and love. We are believing for all our unsaved family members to be saved. Guide all of us in our daily work and protect us from all invisible troubles.
