The LORD has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling. Psalm 132:13

Willing and obedient

If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good things of the land. Isaiah 1:19

A young boy was acting up and his dad told him to sit down. The boy was very defiant and the dad had to repeat himself, "sit down!" The boy sat down with his arms folded saying, “ I might be sitting down on the outside, but I am still standing up on the inside!” Here we see that the Lord is bringing a series of Judgments on Israelites and comes to 19th verse and talks about Willingness and obedient. what is the difference between both of them? Willing: being ready to do something. Obedient: Actually doing it. So, how do we develop a heart of willingness and obedience? I am reminded of the example of Ananias who lived in Damascus and the Lord told him to go to Judas house on Straight Street and ask for a man named Saul. Ananias was fully aware of who Saul was and what he was doing to the believers in Jerusalem and ask the Lord if he was hearing Him right. The Lord reassured him that it was true. Ananias was willing and obedient and resulting in Saul physical healing and spiritual healing.

I want to pose one more question. Why was Ananias a willing and obedient servant? I believe that the simple fact that the Holy Spirit came to him says a lot about Ananias. He must have had a very close relationship with God to not only be obedient to the Lord but to also be willing to do it.

The secret to developing a willing and obedient heart is to have a close relationship with God. This means spending time in communion with Him. Communion involves many things such as prayer, worship, the Word of God, and learning how to discern the voice of the Holy Spirit.
