No one can serve two masters Matthew 6:24
Lord Jesus Christ as part of the sermon on the mount, here in this chapter talks about treasure. God knows that we need certain things in order to live. But, materialism will enslave the heart (Matt. 6:19–21), the mind (vv. 22, 23), and the will (v. 24).
Considering the challenging times that we live in where people end up doing multiple jobs, Lord Jesus is not talking about employment, rather He is talking about slavery. verse 24 talks about becoming a slave to materialism. We cannot serve two masters at the same time. Its either Jesus Christ our Lord or Money. It is a matter of will. If God grants riches, who are we to condemn but they only become as a blessing if we use for His glory and we don’t glory in the money. Many of us these days, glory in our material riches (which are destroyed by moth and rust or stolen by thieves) and we become slaves to those and are missing out the bigger picture and bring shame to the congregation, faith and eventually God himself. We lose our testimony.
Whom are you serving?
