“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” – 1 John 2:15
The word ‘world’ in this verse represents anything that is not of God’s, which God hates, which cannot bring glory unto God, which do not honor God, which is in flesh by nature and so on. In the world, all we have is the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life – is not of the Father but is of the world, and the world is passing away and the lust of it as well.
Christians are to relate to the world as Jesus did, to be in it but to be distinct from it, by developing a separate mindset that comes from God’s word, by living in obedience to God’s word, also by realizing that we are in enemy’s territory.
