The LORD has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling. Psalm 132:13

Spirit versus Might

Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the LORD of Hosts – Zech. 4:6

Zechariah is saying to Zerubbabel that he will accomplish God’s work not by human effort but by God’s spirit.

Zerubbabel has huge task in front of him that is to rebuild the temple of God.  But he was facing opposition from people, authorities and in natural the task seems impossible.

God wanted to teach a lesson that house of the Lord can’t be built by cleverness, human resource or personal ability but by His Spirit.  We read in Zech. 4:3, the Olive oil trees in the vision continually supplied oil to the lamps on the lampstand. God wants the body of Christ to rely on Holy Spirit.

Paul and Peter took the Gospel to Gentiles by the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Following verse affirms that Paul relied on Holy Spirit (“And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power “– 1 Cor. 2:4).

Prayer: Father God, help me not to lean on my understanding but to submit my ways to You. Please go before me and make crooked place straight. In Jesus name, I pray – Amen!!!
