You, O LORD, are a shield to me, my glory and the one who lifts up my head (Psa. 3:3)
King David’s son Absalom turned his father’s glory to shame, and he was ousted by his own son, because of this, David’s head was down. It is easy to face external adversaries but very difficult to face internal adversaries. Even though he was on the run, it is very important to see how David handled the situation.
The essential step he did was, he cried out (prayer) to the LORD and considered God as his shield (protection). After this, David’s confidence was lifted up and he said. “I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around.” (v. 6). We know the end result that his throne was back, his glory was back, his head was lifted up again. If your head is down because of any situation, let us pray and keep God as our protection so that God would turn into praise and He will lift your head.
