“Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men.” Colossians 3:23
Jacob loved Rachel and in order to marry her, he worked for Laban(her father) for 7 years. Even though he was deceived by Laban, he accepted to work for another 7 years for Rachel, because of his love for her. The Bible records that the years he worked seemed like only a few days to him!
Since the creation, God has given us work to do. But, we often regard work as a burden or we do it to fulfill our obligations and to impress people. The above verse says that we should regard work as an act of worship or service unto God. If we love God, we should work heartily as unto Him and it will not be burdensome!
