The LORD has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling. Psalm 132:13

O God, my heart is steadfast!

“My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.” Psalm 57:7

When David fled from Saul into the cave, he had been brought through several near-death terrors. David came to Adullam cave alone, discouraged, and in continued danger, despite all this, his soul trusted in God and nothing else. God was his only help. He looked for help from the Most high who occupied the greatest high ground of all i.e. heaven. The psalm began with David twice appealing for mercy; now David twice expressed his steadfast confidence in God. Though alone in the cave and troubles behind and ahead, he could allow his heart to be fixed on God. The steadfast heart led to a singing heart.

Today let us fix our hearts on God and try to live "above" the circumstances of life as we look to God for help and offer our praises to our God who lives and rules our life because He is above the earth and above the heavens.
