“…You, LORD, have helped me and comforted me.” Psalm 86:17
Psalmist looks to his divine protector in the hour of conflict. He does not run about to consult with friends, nor does he set himself down to digest his bitter sorrow in solitude, but he gets away to the Lord his God, who has promised to help him. God is ‘his exceeding joy’ in his brightest days and ‘his comfort’ in his darkest night. Hence, he cries, “Lord, show me a sign for good.” David knew who God is against his enemies and leaves the outcome to God. David knew that his Lord alone is the true God, He alone can do great and wondrous things for His people, he acknowledges that God is his divine help and divine comforter.
Are you battling an affliction? Are you in the hour of conflict? Like the psalmist, pray to the only true God, great in power, love, grace, and mercy earnestly, continually, thankfully and in humility.
