In everything give thanks, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus 1The 5:18
Today’s verse is a command. *Giving thanks is not optional for us*. Apostle Paul exhorts us to give thanks not only in happy, joyful and excited situations but also in sickness, discouragement or disappointment. How is this possible?
In Luke 22:19, Jesus in the upper room, took bread, gave thanks and broke it. Jesus knowing very well, the most horrible suffering he would endure, gave thanks, to the Father for the grace and glory that was coming because of the cross and this gave him joy. The joy set before us was the same joy set before Jesus.
Holding onto the victory of Jesus Christ and claiming the promises of God, yes it is possible to give thanks in all our situations. Because, we know the One who holds our future is faithful enough to carry us in our present situations as well.
Hence, don’t forget to give thanks.
