This amazing grace was exemplified by Jesus Christ – sacrificing His life on the cross as a lamb for the remission of our sins. ”He was crushed for our sins; the punishment that brought us peace was on him.” “He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth.” (Isa 53: 5&7).
There are no words or thoughts to depict the agonizing and gruesome death; Jesus Christ had to endure – just to show what love is through his amazing grace. He gave his life away. The price was paid in full. His precious blood was shed for us all. This great love shown is beyond any mind can fathom.
This was God’s redemptive plan; only Jesus alone was able to execute this great sacrifice – He became the Lamb that was led to the slaughter. This lamb has several distinct elements; He is the Lamb that was slain, but He Is seen with absolute power and strength. This is not a defenseless Lamb. This is not a weak Lamb. This Lamb has complete, sovereign power.
HIS is the gracious wisdom that has been translated into the plans and purposes of the Triune God – who, through Jesus Christ's sacrifice on the cross, picked up the sinful man and clothed him in His own garment of righteousness, for it is the Lamb that was slain.
“Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!" (Rev. 5:12).
