Render therefore, to Ceasar the things that are Ceasar’s and to God the things that are God’s. Mt. 22:21
As a believer of Jesus Christ, every Christian should yield obedience to all laws of the government under which he or she lives. When the human law contradicts the Divine Scripture, requiring us to do what God forbids, or forbidding us to do what God requires, the rule is evident: ‘We ought to obey God rather than man’ [Acts 5:29].
While we give to Caesar the things which are Caesar’s, it is also important not to forget to give to God the things which are His. Does God not have a claim upon us. Indeed, everything in this world is His. “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it;” (Ps. 24:1). We are just managers of it for His glory!
In giving to everyone their due, we should the first place to Him, give to God all that is His. He demands our love, our gratitude, our prayer, our worship, and our submission. If we simply disregard His requirements, we are guilty of the worst kind. This Bible says, ”Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me!” (Malachi 3:8).
