The LORD has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling. Psalm 132:13

My goodness pass before thee

I will make all my goodness pass before thee Exodus 33:19

In Exodus 33:18, Moses pleads with God to show His glory and God said I will make all my goodness pass before you and will proclaim before you my name “The LORD”. And I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy.

We see God is reveling himself to Moses as “YHWH” or “Yahweh”. Yahweh means “the self-existent, eternal God” or “He Brings into Existence Whatever Exists”.  Gods goodness is his glory. No man can live after seeing Gods glory, so He decides to reveal himself by glory of his mercy rather than glory of majesty.  Even though Israelites sinned by worshipping idols, God showed mercy to them because Moses interceded for them. Out of his sovereignty He decided to show mercy but in case of Achan, he and his family were punished.

For he says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.” It does not, therefore, depend on human desire or effort, but on God’s mercy – Romans 9:15-16.

Prayer: Have mercy on us, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion and cleanse us from our sin. In Jesus name I pray – Amen !!!
