1 John 2:1 “….I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.” In his letter, John encourages his fellow believers, warns them about sin, and reassures that when a saved believer sins, they must bring all to their advocate, tell him everything. He will represent them under His righteousness, pleading their case with God, His father. At the same time, John was also warning that those who claim to know Jesus Christ, yet disobey Him anyway, they all are lying to themselves and others. His letter concludes that anyone who claims to have fellowship with Christ should live as if that is true. Other New Testament passages, such as Romans 8:34 and Hebrews 7:25, also describe Jesus in the role of an advocate for believers. Let’s start our day evaluating ourselves who we are and who we are for, who we claim to be, and do our actions reflect the one who gave his own life to pay for my life and yours. If we failed, we must not live under the guilt; instead, we must bring all to Him to forgive us and show us the path to continue to grow every single day of our lives.
Prayer: Dear Lord Heavenly Father, Lord, I come to you to ask you to have mercy upon me and forgive us and help us to forgive others as well. In Jesus’s Holy name I pray Amen
Have a blessed day!
