The LORD has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling. Psalm 132:13

God’s word is alive

For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword…Hebrews 4:12

Nothing compares to the word of God. It is active, operational, energizing, and effective. God’s word is power. The work that God’s word does is like no other. It is so powerful that it reaches into the unreachable places of our spirit and soul.

2 Timothy 3:16 says God’s words are God-breathed and inspired by God. It further says that the word “sanctifies, profitable for teaching, for reproof, correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.” 2 Peter 1:21 tells us that these words did not originate in the will of man but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. The synonyms described for word of God in Psalms 119 are truth, power and life. It is a lamp for our feet, a restraint on our sin, a sustainer, a comforter, a reviver, it is wisdom in our mouth for answering those who reproach us. As we read God’s word let us remember that these words are living, breathing instructions from the living omnipresent God who is alive today, yesterday, and forever.
