The LORD has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling. Psalm 132:13

Rejoicing in His Salvation

My soul shall be joyful in the Lord…rejoice in his salvation. Psalms 35:9

David was very poor while he was in exile. Those who came to join his cause were also poor. They were in distress and discontent but they shared in his struggles. David trusted in the Lord and he was joyful in the Lord for His salvation. With every difficult situation, David praised the LORD for He alone can save the defenseless and helpless. Because of David’s unyielding trust, God delivered David and his men out of their poverty.

David recognized that salvation is not the product of man’s work or effort. He referred to salvation as “His salvation”. The Apostle Paul would completely agree to this. Ephesians 2:8-9 says “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.”. “His salvation” brings great joy when man receives it. Recognizing that it is not of our works but because of God’s grace we are saved, we immediately ascribe all praise and glory to Him.
