The LORD has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling. Psalm 132:13

David’s prayer

I will give thanks to You…with all my heart…for Your loving kindness toward me is great. Psalms 86:12,13

David approaches God at a time when he is poor and needy, in times of trouble when a crowd of violent men are trying to attack and kill him. In these times, David comes in confidence and calls himself a servant who trusts in God and says ‘You are my God’. He praises God for who He is, that He alone is God and that He is merciful and gracious and will answer his cry for help. David knows that what he has done is deserving of death, but God in His great mercy has forgiven him. He knows that God shows kindness and steadfast love.

God is deserving of our praise simply because He is God. David vowed not only to praise God but to do it with enthusiasm and to do it forever. We can learn so much from David about how to approach God in faith with boldness and confidence as we present our requests to Him.
