Fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person. Ecclesiastes 12:13
Solomon pursued earthly knowledge apart from God for the sake of contentment. He stored up possessions for significance. He built military might for the sake of control. He piled up money for security. He ran after pleasure for the sake of gratification. Eventually he came to a profound understanding that a life lived apart from God is like chasing the wind.
We were all created to have a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. The truth is, the purpose of our life does not revolve around us. The purpose of our life revolves around God. This cannot happen without a healthy fear of the Lord. To fear the Lord is to consider God above everything and everyone else and doing what is right in God’s eyes. This healthy fear should cause us to desire to please Him in all we do. It should cause us to fear anything that might displease Him.
