You shall fear only the LORD your God; and you shall worship Him and swear by His name. (Deut. 6:13)
We are familiar with GPS (Global Positioning System), which always helps us find the shortest distance to go from point A to point B. In the old testament, If Israelites were to travel from Egypt to the promised land, the shortest distance by foot was 11 days. Instead, God’s Positioning System (GPS) directed them to travel for around 40 years. Why? Because, before God made Israel a great blessing for all nations, God wanted to teach “obedience” to all Israelites. He put “fear” in their hearts so that they will not turn away from God.
Even this lesson is applicable today as well. Because of our disobedience and unbelief, we complicate things and make certain blessings come with much delay. As the new year is approaching, let us have “fear” of God and prepare our hearts to commit to listen and follow God so that blessings will come without much delay.
