“You are the light of the world.” – Matthew 5:14
A true story is told of a drunkard who used to beat his wife and children, every night. So, everybody in his village hated him. But, one day he had a life changing encounter with Jesus and his dark life was changed and he started to sing this Hindi song and declare it to everyone in his village – “Jab se pyara Yeshu aaya, mera jeevan badalgaya” which means that – from the time Jesus came into my life, it was completely transformed!
Likewise, if we reflect upon our old lives, we were all in the darkness of sin, when Jesus came and “called us out of darkness into His marvelous light.” But, soon after we are born-again he did not call us to be with him in Heaven. He still kept us in this world of darkness, so that we could shine His light to the people around us and glorify Him.
