And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. Matt. 6:13
Lord Jesus Christ taught us how to pray for our protection against the evil one. He knows that we are very vulnerable to the attacks of Satan, who wants us to sin against God, so that we can be separated from God. Jesus Himself was tempted in every way. Yet He never yielded to sin and Jesus never sinned. Jesus faced His temptations with the Word of God and prayer.
Understanding the devil’s strategy perfectly, Jesus wants us to know that:
– we do not have the necessary strength to resist the evil
– we cannot win the battle against sin on our won
– we need God’s help to be delivered from Satan
May this be our daily prayer, that God might grant us HIS strength to resist evil and overcome temptations in our daily walk of life.
