Shout for joy, daughter of Zion! Shout in triumph, Israel! Rejoice and triumph with all your heart, Daughter of Jerusalem! Zephaniah 3:14
Prophet Zephaniah exploded certain judgment and horrible punishment for all who would oppose the LORD in the land of Judah. God’s awful wrath would sweep away everything in the land and destroy it. Zephaniah predicts the Babylonian exile and the eventual return of the exiles to Jerusalem. God does not take sin lightly, and it will be punished. Amid this terrible pronouncement, there is Hope not only to Judah but also to us because of Jesus Christ who stood in the Gap and took our place, God punished Jesus for our sins and poured out His wrath upon Him, setting us free which gives us the reason to Sing, Shout for Joy, and Rejoice with our heart. Today let us Sing and Rejoice for these reasons:
– The LORD has taken away our judgments.
– The King of Israel, the LORD is in our midst.
– We shall see disaster no more.
– We shall not be afraid of evil anymore.
Just as the name Zephaniah meant, “Jehovah treasures”, which signifies ‘hidden by Jehovah’ as His treasure in the day of His anger, as Believers in The Lord Jesus, our life is hidden with Christ in God (Col 3:3).
