For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have eternal life. – John 3:16
Easily one of the most renowned verses in the bible. Let us dig into it.
1- So (For God so loved). The tiny little word adds extra emphasis to the word – Love. He did not just Love us, He sooooo Loved us.
2- only begotten Son. God did not have 10 begotten Sons to give us one among them. He gave His one and only begotten Son. The Godhead/Triune-God who were in fellowship from eternity past, had to forsake their fellowship for us. Praise God.
3- World. God sent his Son Jesus, for all of us in the world. Yes, the world, who hated and despised him. Praise God for his Ginormous love, that our hate could not supersede his love. v19. GTG.
4- Gave. He gave his only Begotten Son to perish, not to just live a prefect life but to pay for our penalty of our sins on the cruel-wretched-cross.
The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected…and he must be killed & on the third day be raised to life – Luke 9:22
Praise GOD, that he soo loved us, he willingly sent his one and only Son, who took up the cross to pay our penalty of our SIN & gave us, Life from eternal damnation (spiritual death).
