As for you, brothers, do not grow weary in doing good/well-doing. – 2 Thes 3:13
Today’s verse is widely interpreted in a couple of ways. Well touch on both.
Doing good: Good works are a key quality of being a Christian. While we have received our Salvation freely, we also should not shy away from doing good to others. The Goal here is not to get glory for ourselves but to God. Jesus detailed in Mat 5:16 – “that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven”. In addition, not only does our Heavenly Father get glory but it also provides us an opportunity to share the Gospel and get them closer to God.
Heb 13:16: And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.
Well doing: (In context) This chapter written to Thessalonians encourages, about not being idle, but toiling to earn our bread. In general sense, if an opportunity provides, we should toil or at least keep ourselves busy (maybe reading/meditating on the bible), as we know an idle mind is an evil mind. Paul calls them busy bodies (v11). We may see many like that but shouldn’t grow weary of making the best use of our time.
Our God is God of Order and not chaos, and hence let us not grow weary but be disciplined & make the best use of time, either by doing good works or by ensuring we make the best use of time & live a life as a testimony for our lord Jesus Christ.
