There is none holy like the Lord: for there is none besides you; there is no rock like our God – 1 Sam 2:2
Today’s verse is taken from the book of Samuel, Where Hannah sings a song of Thanks to God for conceiving Samuel.
Our God is Holy: Holy means “separated” or “cut off”. Our God is a God who is totally unique. in which he is glorious, and which appears in all his ways and works; he is essentially, originally, independently, perfectly, and immutably holy, and others are not. He is perfect in His nature. His character is one of flawless moral perfection.
none besides you: Hannah states, what all of us who have a personal relationship with God know. Not only is there no other God, but also there is none, who is holy like our God. (This Holiness is also imputed to those who have a relationship with him.)
There is no rock like our God: When we compare figuratively to the present world, all the rocks that are revered as deities, are just plain old speechless rocks or stones, but not our God. Our God is a living God.
This chapter reminds us not only about the attributes of our God, but also to give him thanks when God fulfills our prayers and petitions. We also notice in Chapter 1, Hannah Worshipped God when going through deep distress v19. Praise/Worship and thanksgiving should be a staple activity of a believer, regardless of our circumstances and especially when going through hardship.
Samuel means God who Listens/hears.
Prayer: Lord, give us the strength that we may remember all your deeds and praise/worship You, especially in pressing situations.
