The LORD has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling. Psalm 132:13

Be silent in the presence of the Lord

Be silent in the presence of the Lord GOD – Zeph 1:7

Silence in the presence of the Lord means waiting on the Lord or not participating in unfruitful deeds or listening to God. Here Zephaniah is prophesying about the destruction of Judah as they moved away from the presence of God and started worshipping Molech – pagan god.

God is expecting us to wait in his presence silently allowing him to speak through His still small voice. We read in Luke 10:38-42, when Jesus entered Martha’s home, she will be excited and distracted by all the preparations that had to be made but Mary chose to sit at the feet of Jesus and listen to Him. When Martha complained about Mary, Jesus responded to Martha that Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.

We are preoccupied with so many things like Martha and anxious about our future (Job, Immigration status, Kids education, Health, Marriage etc). Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you – 1 Peter 5:7. The most important thing is to be silent in his presence and to have a rich relationship with God.

Prayer: Father God, help us to quieten ourselves in your presence and listen to your still small voice and not worry about the future. In Jesus name I pray – Amen!!!
