The LORD has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling. Psalm 132:13

The godly and the ungodly

For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly shall perish. Psalms 1:6

This Psalm highlights the way of the righteous and their end. It also indicates the way of the unrighteous. It shows the life of the godly and the reward it brings, and the life of the ungodly and the judgment they will receive. The righteous does not walk in step with the wicked, does not stand in the way that sinners take and sit in the company of mockers. The righteous delights in the Word of God and meditates on it day and night. The righteous by doing all these things shall remain evergreen like the tree planted by the rivers of waters. The unrighteous are the direct opposite of the righteous.

Although this Psalm was originally given to encourage Israel to love the Lord with all their heart and walk in His ways, it is very much applicable to us in this day and age, knowing the benefits the Lord gives to the righteous. Those who deny the truth of God’s Word and reject His ways will perish. They will eventually be separated from God but the righteous will shine.
