“The God of heaven Himself will prosper us; therefore we His servants will arise and build….” Nehemiah 2:20
The enemies of Nehemiah mocked and ridiculed those who returned from exile in order to rebuild the wall in Jerusalem and strongly opposed the construction work. But Nehemiah trusted and depended on the LORD, he did not fear their strong opposition. He stayed absolutely determined to complete the task. He did not stop, because His trust was in God alone who opened up the opportunity for him to do the work.
Every good work that we set out to do for the cause of Christ at some point will meet with a distraction or opposition to discourage us. There will always be those who despise and ridicule the work of God. We need that same determination just like Nehemiah regardless of any distraction. We must not become discouraged and quit because of distress. The God of heaven came to restore God’s property to Him and destroy Satan’s work. That is what He does in our lives. When we face resistance, we must see it as something God allows to strengthen us because Satan has no power over us.
