Matthew 6:8. “Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.”
To get the right context and spiritual understanding of today’s verse requires us to look at the verses before and after. The verse before is an example. Jesus exemplifies to His disciples to take heed and do not look at the things or patterns of those who project and exorbitant themselves by using the words to show more of themselves.
In today’s verse, Jesus gave a warning after giving a negative example. He explained very clearly why they should not be like those who try using their lengthy prayers and projecting themselves more than submitting to their Father’s will.
And after this verse, He gave a clear blueprint a full framework of effective prayer. He told us clearly that we must not worry, instead, we must acknowledge Him as our Father and where His place is.
The place where everything is visible, our past, our present, and our future. We must not fret on things around us, instead, bring all and submit to His will to be done for us. From spiritual realm to earthly existence.
Acknowledge Him as our provider for today because what has passed is gone, and what will come will be blessed. It might be hard today but this hard period is a preparation for our better tomorrow.
Confess that we are not worthy of His mercy but by His grace, we become eligible to approach Him. And lead us to have a heart that understands the mercy we have received by grace and have the same attitude to reflect the similar grace on others to maintain peace among ourselves.
Ask for protection through the Holy Spirit so we can overcome our challenges. And after the structural most effective way of Prayer, He again explains the key things we all must remember (forgiveness) Matthew 6:14-15.
He knows before we ask, He already gave us more than what we deserve. So let’s have Him in charge and enjoy the daily blessings He brings us with His plan to be fulfilled from our attitudes and actions we take today to make the place more beautiful and praiseworthy.
Submit all to Him because He knows it all and the plan He has is the plan of our success and victory.
Promise: “For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”
Prayer: Dear Lord Heavenly mighty wonderful God. Lord, thank You for the gift and privilege of prayer. Thank You that I have access to Your throne of grace, for help in time of need. You alone are worthy of my thanks and praise for this unparalleled birth-right. Renew in me an increasing desire to know You more, and to love You better with each passing day. Purge from me any petty attitudes that may hinder my fellowship with You. Instill in me a deepening desire to linger in Your presence and to praise You unceasingly, in spirit and truth. And develop in my heart an attitude of worshipful prayer, so that my communion with You becomes the essential essence of my very life on earth. In Jesus’s Holy Name, I pray Amen.
