The LORD is only the GOD

The Lord Himself is God in heaven above and on the earth beneath; there is no other.           – Deuteronomy 4:39

Moses warns to the Children of Israel about the danger of disobedience

This verse has been quoted by Moses to the Children of Israel who had been miraculously delivered from bondage in Egypt by the grace of GOD. Moses expressed to them that in all human history, no other nation was blessed to have the privilege of hearing God speak to them while they were at the base of Mt. Sinai. Moses reminded them of all of God’s mighty acts in delivering them and his merciful patience with them so that they would firmly know that the LORD rules all of heaven and earth. His words are relevant for every believer today.

It is not until we see Him in this light, that we will truly honor and obey Him. We too must be reminded that “The LORD He is only the God...” We are not to take Him lightly. We must be reminded of His grace and mercy in giving His beloved Son to rescue us from the bondage of sin when He came to die on “rugged cross, the emblem of suffering and shame.”   When we lose sight of His awesomeness, we tend to become irreverent with Him. It is for us to remember who He is and what He is doing, and reverence and obey Him.
