The LORD has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling. Psalm 132:13

Fear and Wisdom

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom -Psa 111:10

The fear of the Lord – Reverence for God; respect for GOD’s law, GOD’s will, and himself; the fear of offending him, which will lead us to do right in our lives. This fear is not that of a slave; it is not mere dread; it is not terror. It is consistent with love and springs from it. It is consistent with the calmness of mind and promotes it. It does not produce terror, but rather delivers from it, and preserves the mind from alarms.

As believers, we have His promise that nothing can separate us from His love (Romans 8:38-39). We have His promise that He will never leave us or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). Fearing God means having such a reverence for Him that it has a great impact on the way we live our life. The fear of God is respecting Him, obeying Him, submitting to His discipline, and worshipping Him in awe.

The good news is that the fear of God is only the beginning of knowledge. In fact, the great news is that the love of God reflected through Jesus Christ in the New Testament scriptures has the power to cast out this fear and set us free!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I praise Your glorious name and pray that You would increase my wisdom and understanding of all You are to me, with every passing day, for I desire to do Your will in humble obedience to You – for You alone are worthy. In the name of Jesus, Amen
