He was oppressed and He was afflicted,
Yet He opened not His mouth …-Isa 53:7
Isaiah prophesied above verse that the Messiah would be oppressed and silent, like a lamb being led to its slaughter. But Isaiah did not understand fully who this GOD’s servant would be at his time 700 years before Christ. But GOD described (through Isaiah) fully how GOD’s only son (Here Jesus) suffered and proven to be correct.
Isaiah describes the Servant (Jesus) did not open His mouth when the oppressive acts were made against him. It was unusual conduct, to say the least, contrary to human nature. This is an amazing thought. We would be screaming and crying. Jesus is innocent in every way and yet he does nothing and says nothing. He is submissive and quiet as He bears the oppression and affliction.
when crucifixion was not a Jewish form of capital punishment, but Roman that was borrowed and refined from the Carthaginians. It was unheard of during the time of David and Isaiah, yet it is foretold hundreds of years before Rome was built.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You that Christ became the sacrificial Lamb on my sins. Thank You Jesus, You took the punishment that I deserved and did not open Your mouth to proclaim Your innocence – but endured the cross on my behalf. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
