For the wages of sin is death, but the [a]gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. -Rom 6:23
Paul answers the question of whether Christians should continue to sin. His answer is very clear: we absolutely should not. First, when we came to God by faith in Jesus, we died to sin. We are not slaves to it anymore but children of GOD.
After baptism, a believer rose from death free from sin and live in Christ. Second, what did living for sin ever get us? It led to shame and death.
Also, Paul says, if believers allow sin to have the opportunity, it will conquer and rule them again. Therefore, they must give every part of themselves to God, so that God, not sin, might work through them.
The freedom that grace gives is freedom from sin, not freedom from God. It does not allow people to sin with ease. Sinners feel no obligation to righteousness, but neither do they get any satisfaction from sin. They get only disappointments, bondage, and death. Being a slave of God brings satisfaction and holiness in the present world, and the fullness of eternal life in the age to come.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I am a sinner and deserving of eternal death and the lake of fire, I am not worthy to set my foot in Your heavenly home, but I believe that the Lord Jesus paid the price for my sins through His death on Calvary and I accept Your free gift of salvation and eternal life IN HIM. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
