For You are my rock and my fortress;
Therefore, for Your name’s sake,
Lead me and guide me. -Psa 31:3
Today’s verse is a part of the prayer of King David to GOD when he was in distress due to the wrath of the increasingly evil King Saul.
David puts his trust in the Lord and David prayed for God’s continuing protection and support in all the difficulties and dangers that he faced – for David knew that God is our rock of defense and He alone is our very present help in time of trouble.
Like David, we need to delight ourselves in the Lord and meditate upon Him in our waking moments and during our times of rest, as well as throughout all the twists and turns of life – so that when the storms of life whip up around us we are not dismayed.
Trust in the Lord is our portion too and prayer to the Lord and it is our privilege as well for we know that in Christ we have a portion and privilege for we are His people and the sheep of His pasture – we are a new creation in Christ and He is our loving heavenly Father.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, Loving Father You are my rock and fortress, my strength and stay and I rest in Your love. I ask that You lead and guide me through all the twists and turns of my life and thank You that Your grace is sufficient for all that I face. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
