The LORD has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling. Psalm 132:13

Speech seasoned with salt

“Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer.” Col. 4:6
Biblically, gracious speech is more than being polite.
In other words, when we speak to people, it is imperative we speak kind and helpful words. We ought to be gracious in our speech. Like salt that enhances and brings out flavors in food, the hope is to bring out the best in others in our conversations and not put them down.
Words that come out from our mouth have their source in the thoughts of our hearts. When our heart is properly focused on the Lord Jesus, in fellowship with the Father, and being led by the Holy Spirit, our words will be gracious and seasoned with salt.
Every conversation and interaction is an opportunity to show the grace of God through your words.  Words are powerful.  They can change someone’s life for a moment or even forever.  Choose them wisely.  Words of kindness and sincere caring are the seeds of the Gospel for others.  Even the courage to speak truth, but in love, will be appreciated by people.  In our world of double-talk, and frankly, people having nothing good to say, a positive voice of hope and love is refreshing and much needed.
My Prayer
Loving Father my speech is not always gracious or seasoned with salt. Through You Spirit I pray that the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart is always acceptable to you so that I only say that which is pleasing to You, in Jesus name I pray, AMEN.
