The LORD has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling. Psalm 132:13

A very present helper!

Hear, O Lord, and have mercy on me; Lord, be my helper! Psalm 30:10

Even though David was a king and had many helpers (ministers, soldiers, and others) around him and waiting for his orders, he chose the Lord as his very present helper.

From Psalm 30 in king David words:

“You have lifted me up,” “have not let my foes rejoice over me” (v.1)

“You healed me” (v.2)

“You brought my soul up from the grave” (v.3)

“You have kept me alive” (v.4)

“You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness” (v.11)

David knew that the Lord was his invisible helper, and only He could save him from the grave and every visible and invisible situation of His life.

Before Jesus was leaving the earth, He promised: “another helper (Holy Spirit)” (John 14:16) to His disciples. On the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit God came to indwell in believers and has been giving the same attention that Jesus would have given to His disciples. As our God is our very present help (indwells in us), let us continue to trust Him and seek him first so that we are helped in every situation!
