“I will meet with you, and I will speak with you from above the mercy seat.” – Exodus 25:22
God instructed Moses to build a tabernacle so that He may dwell among them. The tabernacle included the ark of the covenant and the mercy seat above it as a covering. The root word for ‘mercy seat’ is ‘kapporeth’ which means, “to cover, appease, cleanse or make atonement for”. In the Old Testament, the Priest would sprinkle the blood of the sacrificed animal once a year for the atonement of his past sins and of the people.
The mercy seat which covered the ark was a foreshadow of the blood of Jesus Christ, which is the ultimate atonement for all the sins of mankind. Jesus came into the world to meet the greatest need of mankind and to heal us from the sickness of sin. Today, you can invite Him into your life so that you can experience a great transformation!
“I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in” – Revelation 3:20
