But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Mat 6:33
In the pursuit of the things we need for our life, often our priorities get jumbled. We get lost, become anxious and afraid. We do pray to God asking for His help, guidance and provision. We try hard to seek things in our own knowledge and effort. In the process we forfeit peace and our spiritual priorities get jeopardized.
In today’s verse, Jesus commands us to set our spiritual priorities, to seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness “FIRST”, but not as our intermediate or last resort. Seeking God’s kingdom is seeking the will of God by knowing the heart of God and obeying His command.
Leaving our cares behind, may we fix our eyes on King Jesus and His kingdom. He is our Jireh God, who provides more than what we need.
