Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart Luke 18:1
We get weary of unanswered prayers many times. We give up, overlook and move on. In today’s portion, Jesus spoke of a parable about a widow and an unrighteous judge. The widow kept on going back to the judge for justice, in spite of her rejection and refusal. she never gave up. Finally, the judge decides to give her justice to get rid of her bothering.
The widow acknowledged that she was powerless and sought the mercy of the judge knowing very well that he is wicked and unjust. And her plea was answered. Jesus encourages us as believers, to be like this persistent widow. But there is no comparison to the unrighteous judge and our righteous God.
When we pray, we are going to our heavenly Father, who did not spare His own son, but delivered Him up for all of us, will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things? Rom. 8:32
As we approach the throne of grace with our prayers to our righteous Father, may we recognize that we are powerless and acknowledge His sovereignty. In persistent prayer, may we commit our lives and circumstances to God, that He might do His will, in His way and in His time.
