But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God. John 1:12
Our God is in control of everything and everyone. Though he is well able to transform everyone in a moment yet he gave us free will to receive or to reject Him. He is knocking at the door of man’s heart to make him his child. Christ has loved us so much that he gave His life on the cross for us. To receive Him is to choose eternal life. He wants all of us to become His child.
What a royal privilege it is to become a child of God! Jesus gives this favor, this privilege, to those who believe in his name. Indeed becoming a child of God is God's blessing; it is not something we earn.
Becoming a child of God is progressive too. By hearing His voice, by talking to Him, by being sensitive to His will we can grow in the Lord daily in becoming a child of God. Through our fruits, we are proved to be His Children. May the Lord help us that until He comes we might be persistent in being children of God.
