Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees. Matt. 16:6
Jesus was not telling them to guard against the yeast used in bread, but against the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees. The doctrine of the Pharisees taught was inventions of men, justification by the works of the law and the doctrine of Sadducees was that there is no resurrection of the dead, nor angels, nor spirits. These Pharisees and Sadducees tried to induce their teachings into the minds of men and made them puffed up with pride and vanity. Jesus compares them to leaven and advises his disciples to watch out and be on guard.
These wrong teachings are prevalent then and now too. They lead believers to falter in their solid foundations of the Logos word. Satan’s important assignment is to deceive. Subtly believer’s may be deceived unless the Spirit of God leads them strongly. May the Lord shield us with His protection against the leaven of the wrong ways until HE comes.
