Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! …Behold, your King is coming to you. Zechariah 9:9
Can you ever imagine a King coming to ordinary people like us? It is always the other way around; people go to meet the king. Here we have a King, a lowly King, a humiliated King riding not on a majestic horse but on a colt Who is none other than Lord Jesus Christ. This verse was fulfilled in all four Gospels when Jesus Christ came into Jerusalem the last time. King Jesus is very different from all the worldly kings. He is sinless, blameless, immortal, eternal, meek, loving, and came in a righteous way with Salvation.
‘Daughter of Zion’ is a metaphor for Israel and the loving, caring, patient relationship God has with His chosen people who have been saved by grace through faith, rejoice greatly for the forgiveness of sin, and the redemption of our spirit, soul, and body, which was secured for us on Calvary's cross and confirmed for us through an empty tomb. And the day is coming when the God’s chosen will rejoice once again when they see their Messiah coming in the clouds with great power and glory, for the day is fast approaching when they will cry: LOOK! Behold! He comes with the clouds of heaven, and every eye will see Him-even those who pierced Him. As the redeemed wait for the second coming of Christ, let us all love Jesus by singing Hosanna and shouting ‘Even so come Lord Jesus!’
