How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news. Isaiah 52:7
Prophet Isaiah in announcing this verse is looking forward to the Babylonian captivity when Jerusalem would become desolate. But the prophet also knows that soon they would see God’s Salvation. Isaiah prophetically sees the messengers bringing the good news to a forsaken people. After a long time of Jerusalem is in ruins, finally, the news would come of Judah’s redemption. The prophet could see the messengers of the good news running on the Judean mountainsides. Peace and Salvation were on the way. God was going to set His people free from captivity through the defeat of Babylon by the Persian king Cyrus. Thousands of years later, this good news of peace and salvation was fulfilled through Jesus Christ. Many messengers have proclaimed the gospel, saying- “That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord’, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” How can non-believers confess Jesus is Lord? The way to believe is to hear about Christ, to hear someone need to preach the gospel, to preach, first, they need to be sent out. So, the first step begins with people’s feet.
Of all members of the body, feet are the least beautiful for many. We may wash them several times, but they still look dirty. But we can get beautiful feet, as we convey the Gospel to others. Every believer should be a witness of the Lord Jesus Christ. A few words to somebody by His help can bring salvation. God can turn ugly feet into spiritually beautiful when we proclaim the good news, proclaim peace, bring good tidings, proclaim salvation, and God’s sovereign rule.
