Grace and Truth in Jesus

John 1:17 – For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
Moses was a foreshadow of Jesus. Moses received the laws of God (aka word from God). The laws intent was to protect, but since all mankind fell short of the standard of the Law in ex 31, Judgement was upon us. Human efforts will always fall short, and everyone is corrupted with sin, as in Rom 3:23. Praise be to God that he sent his son (i.e. word in flesh John 1:14) to annul that judgment. Salvation is truly found & graciously given to us in Jesus Christ alone. Moses’ first miracle was turning water into blood, which is symbolic of judgment (Exodus 7:20). Jesus’ first miracle was turning water into wine—symbolic of blood—as a gracious gift (John 2:7–11). Only those who accept Christ’s sacrifice of blood are spared from the judgment we all deserve (1 John 1:7).
