Nah 1:7 – The Lord is agood, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knows them that trust in him.
In brief, Nahum is sort of a tale of 2 stories. Those who are with God and those against him.
The Prophet Nahum had been declaring the fierceness of God’s anger, wrath and fury that God will pour out on the city of Nineveh like fire, if the people refuse to repent and turn from their vile ways.
In the midst of speaking judgment, in the midst of all the words of wrath, anger and doom, this text before us stands out as a ray of hope.
The truth of the matter is that what Nahum is saying about God is true! He is good, He is our shelter in the time of storms of life and He knows our names, He has made a way for us through Christ Jesus to come boldly to His throne of grace and mercy for the help we need in our time of trouble so yes, God is good.
Like the city of Nineveh, even if we have committed vile sin against the Lord God and is still living in that lifestyle, God is still willing to show us mercy, if we repent and turn from your wicked ways because, He is a God who is slow to Anger & and abounding in steadfast love – Ps 103:8.
Today is the day to cry out to the God of grace and mercy, for He promises to wrap us up in His love, goodness and kindness if we would come right now to Him.
