Psalms 25:14 – The friendship of the LORD is for those who fear him, and he makes known to them his covenant.
Today’s Psalms talks about the fear of the lord. One of the important principles of walking in Gods statutes, is to have a reverential fear of God. For a believer to walk in Gods ways, we must be obedient to Gods Voice/word. A reverential Fear of the Lord is a precursor to Obedience.
In v12,13 – Those who fear the Lord will have Guidance and will spend their days in prosperity, and their descendants will inherit the land.
In Proverbs – The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom (1:7) & in Psalms – Blessed are all who fear the LORD. (128:1)
From the above, we can safely deduce that those who fear the Lord are wise, blessed , friends of the Lord, Will have Guidance & prosperity. (Too many Benefits to Ignore). Our Lord and Risen Savior too echoed the same. You are my friends, if you do what I command – John 15:14.
We live in a day, where Blessings are over emphasized, but “Fear of the Lord” is barely touched upon. So let us be encouraged by Todays verse to Fear the LORD.
It is one thing for us to trust in God & it’s a whole different scenario for God to trust in Us. In addition, for those whom God calls his friends, He shares His covenant. i.e. we can comprehend the mystery of His word, with much clarity.
While as we learnt yesterday, our God is Slow to Anger and abounding in steadfast love, the God of the Bible is also a Jealous and a God of consuming Fire. So we should not take advantage of Gods Goodness but rather Fear Him.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, Teach us a reverential fear of you, so we may walk in your statues , glorify you & befriend you.
